Two AZ Awards for Bicycle Parking Garage The Hague

The underground bicycle parking garage at The Hague Central Station has been named both the Winner and the People’s Choice at the AZ Awards 2021. The project won the double prize in the Experiential Graphic Design category.

The AZ Awards is the international architecture and design awards program of Toronto-based Azure Magazine. The AZ Awards recognizes the world’s best projects, products and ideas. 2021 marks the competition’s eleventh year.

From over 1,200 entries, a jury of design professionals chose the winners. The international jury consisted of Patricia Urquiola, Ini Archibong, Susannah Drake, Sou Fujimoto, Adelaide Testa, Paul Filek, Karim Rashid, Barbara Bestor, Marc Ryan and Gilles Saucier.

The graphics almost become kinetic.

In the Bicycle Parking Garage The Hague, parking your bike almost feels like visiting a museum. The unconventional location-specific design of the facility – the second largest of its kind in the Netherlands – provides more comfort and a greater sense of security for the thousands of daily users, while promoting cycling as a healthy and sustainable way of life. Silo developed the award-winning design together with studiomarsman.
