Healthcare Design Magazine: Drawing A Connection At Zaans Medical Center

The healing environment for Zaans Medical Center graces the cover of this month’s Healthcare Design Magazine. The magazine looks into the ideas behind the spatial branding and how it ties in with the wayfinding strategy.

The article emphasizes how “wayfinding programs aim to minimize the stress associated with reaching a destination within a healthcare facility.” At Zaans Medical Center, the program has been expanded to “to create a strong sense of place by introducing something a little different: black and white line art.”

“We wanted to use a specific style that was not common in hospitals, something unexpected, yet aesthetically pleasing. Using the line art, we approached recognizability more subtly, encouraging a more personal interpretation,” says Silo’s creative director Rene Toneman.

Healthcare Design Magazine provides insight, information, and inspiration for a broad audience of architects, interior designers, hospital administrators, facility managers, and others who are involved in the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities.
