Work in progress for Nationale-Nederlanden

The offices of Nationale-Nederlanden in The Hague and Rotterdam are undergoing a complete renewal of the working environment. The wildly ambitious project aims to achieve a full circular, zero-waste, WELL Platinum-certified renovation with the lowest possible ECI (Environmental Cost Indicator).

In collaboration with interior architect Fokkema & Partners, Silo has developed a thought-provoking spatial interpretation of a number of key spaces: four wings that are designed as co-working and project spaces and an event space where Nationale-Nederlanden will be able organize a wide variety of internal and external events.

The spatial experience emphasizes NN’s core values while each of the four co-working spaces has been designed with a different theme: sustainability, community, creativity, and vitality. With an emphasis on innovation and flexibility, the transformation will ready both locations for new ways of post-COVID working and collaborating.

Mosaic created from (leftover) materials harvested in the renovation, supplemented by other circular materials. Illustrations depicting important themes for NN, printed on sustainable wall panelling.

"You Matter" – NN's core message – appears throughout the interior in various distinct interpretations.

The mosaics express the theme of the project space they are in; in this case ‘Creativity’ and NN's core values are subtle applied to the walls of the Event Space.

A large number of partners are involved in the complex project: Fokkema & Partners, Gielissen Interiors, Royal HaskoningDHV, LBP|SIGHT, Stevens Van Dijck, bba binnenmilieu bv, Superuse, Oogstkaart, Spaces4you B.V., Vepa the furniture factory, JP van Eesteren, Veolia, TRIBOO EU and many more. Silo’s designs are currently being implemented.
