Zaans Medical Center wins Frame Awards People’s Vote

The careful integration of architecture, urban design, landscape, interior, and spatial identity have resulted in an environment that helps reduce the stress of a hospital visit and advance recovery. It is an efficient and compact building in which professional healthcare and a personal approach strengthen each other.

Silo designed a distinctive spatial identity that provides positive distraction and contributes to the orientation and wayfinding. A striking series of hand-drawn illustrations have been integrated into the architecture and refers to elements of the region’s industrial heritage. The highlight is a 1,500m2 drawing of the human body in the central hall.

Previously, Silo’s work for Zaans Medical Center has won awards from the Art Directors Club of New York (ADC Awards), a Yellow Pencil from Design and Art Direction (D&AD) in the UK, a Red Dot Award and several European Design Awards.
